India Tops 16th Asian Shooting Championship with 50 Gold Medals

The 16th Asian Shooting Championship was held from August 16 to 30, 2025, at the Shymkent Shooting Plaza in Shymkent,Kazakhstan. The competition featured 748 athletes from 27 countries across Asia participating in various shooting disciplines at senior and junior levels.

  • India’s contingent of 35 senior shooters and 129 junior athletes created history by topping the medal tally for the first time, winning a total of 99 medals, including 50 gold, 26 silver, and 23 bronze.
  • The championship was organized by the Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) in collaboration with the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) and the Kazakhstan Shooting Sport Federation.

Junior 10m Men’s Air Pistol: India bagged 2 Gold and 3 Silver medals, with Kapil Bainsla winning Gold in the Junior Men’s Air Pistol event.

Junior Women’s 10m Air Pistol: Rashmika Sahgal won Gold with a dominant score of 241.9, and also clinched Team Gold with Vanshika Chaudhary and Mohini Singh.

Men’s Skeet: Anantjeet Singh Naruka secured his first individual gold, defeating former Asian Games champion Mansour Al-Rashidi with 57 hits out of 60.

India’s Mixed & Junior Achievements

Mixed 10m Air Rifle Team: Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan won gold by defeating the Chinese duo at 17-11.

Men’s 10m Air Rifle Team: Rudrankksh Patil, Arjun Babuta, and Kiran Jadhav secured Gold with 1892.5 points, ahead of China and South Korea.

Junior Women’s 25m pistol: Payal Khatri (gold), Naamya Kapoor (silver), and Tejaswani (bronze), thereby achieving a clean sweep. The team claimed silver overall.

25m Standard Pistol: Gurpreet Singh won his first international individual gold.

  • Also, together with Harsh Gupta, they clinched the team gold.

Men’s Double Trap: Ankur Mittal clinched the gold medal by setting a world record with 107 hits.

Women’s Trap: Neeru Dhanda clinched gold, contributing to India’s dominance in the medal standings.
