Indian Railway flagged off India’s first blind friendly train, from Mysuru to Varanasi. The train is financed by Pratap Simha, Mysuru Member of Parliament (MP), from the MPLAD Fund. The train was inaugurates by Mr Prtap Simha. The Union Minister of Railways always tries to inauguration which helps the local people in every situation.
Key highlights about train
- Train has been provided with blind-friendly metallic braille fixtures that indicates the location of emergency windows, toilets, alarm pull chains as well as berth numbers.
- The number of the first Blind friendly train is Train no. 16226/ 16230
- It runs between Mysuru and Varanasi.
- It helps blind people to travel safely without any sort of difficulties.
- The ministry of railways plan to implement this feature for other long distance trains departures from Mysore as well
Reasons to implement
- Currently lots of Blind peoples can’t able to find their reservation seats properly
- To guide the Blind persons for the correct location of the Emergency window when there is any emergency occur.
- Due to heavy rush in trains general peoples guide wrongly Blind people such initiatives will change the situation.
- Before this the Puri-Delhi Purushottam Express was the first train in the country to have a Braille-embedded coach
- The Chamundi Express and the Mysuru-Talguppa Express is the other two trains that will be provided with Braille displays.
- The first in the country where all reserved coaches have embedded Braille signage
