On August 19, 2025 the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi approved the following proposals:
- Approves the construction of 6-Lane Access-Controlled Capital Region Ring Road in Odisha at cost of Rs. 8,307.74 crores.
- Approves the development of Green Field Airport in Rajasthan at an estimated cost of Rs. 1507 crores.

6-Lane Access-Controlled Capital Region Ring Road
Approval: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the PM Narendra Modi, has approved construction of 6-Lane Access-Controlled Capital Region Ring Road(Bhubaneswar Bypass) in Odisha on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM).
Outlay: The total capital cost of the project is Rs.8307.74 crores and expected to be completed in 2.5 years.
Length: The total length of the corridor is 110.875 kilometres (kms).
Enhanced Connectivity: The project integrates with 3 major National Highways (NH) – NH-55, NH-57, NH-655 and 1 State Highway (SH-65).
Economic and Social Nodes: This upgraded corridor will connect 10 Economic Nodes, 4 Social Nodes, 5 Logistic Nodes.
Transport Nodes: It connects 1 Major Railway Station, 1 Airport(Bhubaneswar airport), 1 proposed Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP), and 2 major Ports thereby facilitating faster movement of goods and passengers across the region.
- The corridor connects the following major cities/towns – Khordha, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Dhenkanal.
Green Field Airport at Kota-Bundi:
Approval: The CCEA has approved the proposal of Airports Authority of India (AAI) for development of Green Field Airport at Kota-Bundi (Rajasthan).
Outlay: The total estimated cost of the project is Rs.1,507 crore.
- The AAI will fund the project, and the proposed airport is expected to be completed in about two years.
Project Area: The Rajasthan government has transferred 440.06 hectares (ha) of land to AAI for the development of the airport, suitable for the operation of A-321 type aircraft.
- The project includes construction of a Terminal Building of 20,000 square kilometre (sqm), capable of handling 1000 Peak Hour Passengers (PHP) with annual capacity of 2 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA).
Current Infrastructure: The existing terminal building spans 400 sqm, offers limited facilities, and can handle 50 passengers during peak hours, accommodating two aircraft at a time.
Limitations: The airport cannot be expanded for commercial operations due to restricted land availability and surrounding urban development.
