In May 2025, Opal Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand was crowned Miss World 2025 at the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
- Opal Suchata was crowned by Miss World 2024, Krystyna Pyszková from the Czech Republic.
- She made history by becoming the first woman from Thailand and only the second from Southeast Asia, after India in 2017, to win the Miss World title.
Note: This is the third time India is hosting Miss World (after 1996 and 2023)
Key Highlights:
i.The event featured 108 contestants from global territories and was co-hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle and Indian television personality Sachiin Kumbhar.
ii.The judging panel comprised experts like Julia Morley (Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Miss World Organization), Manushi Chhillar (Miss World 2017), Dr. Carina Tyrrell (Public Health Physician & Miss England 2014), and Sudha Reddy (Philanthropist), among others.
iii.The First Runner-up title was awarded to Hasset Dereje Admassu from Ethiopia, while Maja Klajda from Poland was declared the Second Runner-up at the Miss World 2025 pageant.
- Hasset Dereje created history by becoming the first representative from Ethiopia to advance this far in the Miss World pageant.
