Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurates, lays foundation stoneIn April 2025, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 10,000 crore in Yamuna Nagar district, Haryana on the occasion of 135th birth anniversary(April 14, 2025) of the architect of Indian Constitution of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.

  • During the event, he reaffirmed the Government of India (GoI)’s commitment to a Viksit (developed) Haryana as a major step towards a Viksit Bharat’.

Key Dignitaries: Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister (CM) of Haryana; Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA); Union Minister of State (MoS) (Independent Charge, IC) Rao Inderjit Singh, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementaion (MoSPI); Union MoS Krishan Pal Gurjar , Ministry of Cooperation (MoC) and other dignitaries were present at the event.

Key Projects:

i.PM Modi inaugurated the 3rd modern thermal power unit of 800 Mega Watt(MW)at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamuna Nagar. The unit will be established by Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) at the cost of Rs 8,469 crore.

  • This project is an expansion of the existing plant that currently operates 2×300 MW units and is expected to be completed within 52 months, and commercial operations are estimated to commence by March 2029.
  • This 3rd unit is projected to increase Haryana’s in-house power generation capacity to 3,382 MW and will provide uninterrupted power supply across the state.

ii.He also laid the foundation stone of a Compressed Biogas(CBG) Plant under Galvanising Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan (GOBARDhan) Yojana in Mukarabpur, YamunaNagar. The plant will be constructed by Municipal Corporation (MC) Yamunanagar-Jagadhri in partnership with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) at the cost Rs 90 crore.

  • The plant will have annual production capacity of 2,600 Metric Tonnes (MT) and is expected to be completed by May 2027.
  • This CBG plant is projected to save Rs 3 crore annually for the municipal corporation (MC), which will help in effective organic waste management and will contribute significantly in clean energy production and environmental conservation.

iii.PM Modi inaugurated 14.4 kilometer (km) long Rewari  Bypass Project, developed under the Bharat mala Pariyojana on Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) at a cost of Rs 1,070 crore.

  • This 4-lane bypass starts at the National Highway (NH)-352 junction and connects to NH-11 towards Narnaul (Haryana).
  • It will ease traffic congestion in Rewari city (Haryana) and reduce the travel from Delhi to Narnaul by nearly an hour.

PM Narendra Modi Laid Foundation Stone of New Terminal Building of Hisar Airport

In April 2025, PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of a new terminal building at Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar, Haryana worth over Rs 410 crore.

  • The new terminal building of the airport will feature a state-of-the-art passenger terminal, a cargo terminal and an Air Traffic Control (ATC) building.
  • This project is developed as part of the GoI’s Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAAN) initiative which aimed to make air travel more affordable and accessible.

Key Dignitaries: Nayab Singh Saini, CM of Haryana and Union MoS Murlidhar Mohol, Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) were present at the event.

Key Points:

i.He also flagged off the 1st commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh, UP) which will run twice in a week.

  • This development marks a major step in Haryana’s aviation connectivity.

ii.The number of airports in India has increased from 74 (2014) to 150 (2025). Also, around 90 airports in India have been connected under UDAN scheme, with more than 600 routes operational.

iii.While addressing the event, PM Modi highlighted that Indian carriers have placed orders for 2,000 new aircrafts. This development will create job opportunities for pilots, air hostesses, and other services.
