52nd International Emmy Awards 2024; Vir Das became 1st Indian to Host Event

On 25th November 2024, the 52nd International Emmy Awards 2024 took place in New York, United States of America (USA). The awards were presented by presented by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS).

Host:

The event was hosted by Indian stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das. With this, he became the first Indian to host this annual event.

  • Vir Das won the Emmy’s Best Comedian award 2023 for ‘Landing’, a Netflix special. He became the first Indian comedian to win Emmy award.

Special Awards:

The International Emmy Directorate Award was presented Sidonie Dumas, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gaumont, the Paris (France) based television & film production group, and International Emmy Founders Award was presented to the American writer-producer David E. Kelley.

Key Highlights:

i.France’s Les Gouttes de Dieu (Drops of God) won the Best Drama Series award.

ii.Best Performance by an Actor: British Actor Timothy Spall won the award for his role in The Sixth Commandment (United Kingdom/UK).

iii.Best Performance by an Actress: Aokbab-Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying won the award for her performance in Hunger (Thailand).

iv.Best Comedy Series: Argentina’s División Palermo.

v.Best Arts Programming: Poland’s Pianoforte.
