India won 24 medals at Japan Para Badminton International 2024

Sivarajan, Sukant shine as India wins 24 medals at Japan Para Badminton InternationalIndian Para badminton players won a total of 24 medals (6 gold, 9 silver and 9 bronze medals) at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Japan Para Badminton International 2024 held from 22nd October to 27th October 2024 in Tokyo, Japan.

  • Sivarajan secured two gold medals- one in the men’s singles SH6 class and the other in partnership with Sudarsan Saravanakumar Muthusamy in men’s doubles.
  • Sukant won a gold in men’s singles (SL4) and silver in men’s doubles (SL3-SL4) with partner Dinesh Rajaiah while Naveen Sivakumar and Surya Kant Yadav secured bronze medals.

Other Indian Winners:

i.In the men’s doubles (MD SL3-SU5) final, Sukant Kadam and Dinesh Rajaiah won silver after getting defeated from compatriots Umesh Vikram Kumar and Surya Kant Yadav.

ii.In other events, reigning Paralympic champion Nitesh Kumar secured silver after losing against Japan’s Daisuke Fujihara in the SL3 finals.

iii.In women’s singles SU5, Manisha Ramdass captured gold by defeating Japan’s Mamiko Toyoda while Neeraj won silver in the women’s SL3 category after getting defeated from Coraline Bergeron.

  • Neeraj also won silver in mixed doubles with Surya Kant Yadav in the SL3-SU5 category.

iv.Alphia James secured asilver in the women’s singles WH2 category.

v.In men’s doubles SU5, Hardik Makkar and Ruthick Ragupati won gold, while Dev Rathi and Indonesia’s Bartlomiej Mroz secured silver.

  • Hardik and Ruthick also secured a silver and bronze in men’s singles SU5.

vi.In the men’s doubles WH1-WH2 category, Abu Hubaida and Prem Kumar Ale won a bronze medal.
