India’s GrandMaster(GM) Raunak Sadhwani won the FIDE World Junior Rapid Chess Championship 2023 title in the open category. He also secured second place(Silver Medal) in the FIDE World Junior Blitz Championship 2023 in the open category.
- The inaugural edition of the Federation Internationale des Echecs/International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Junior Under 20(U-20) Rapid & Blitz Championships 2023 was held from 9th to 16th October 2023 in Pula(Sardinia), Italy.
- The event was hosted by the Italian Chess Federation and the total prize was Money 25,000 Euro.

Rapid: a game of chess played within a fixed amount of time, usually between 10 to 60 minutes per player.
Blitz: a game of chess, commonly known as speed chess, where all the moves must be made in a fixed time of less than 10 minutes for each player.
Junior Rapid Chess Championship – Open Category:
i.The 17-year-old Raunak Sadhwani from Nagpur(Maharashtra) won the World Junior Rapid Chess Championship 2023 title(Gold)
- He became a Grandmaster at the age of 13 years 9 months 28 days .He was the 9th youngest player and 4th Indian to achive GM at youngest age.
ii.GM Nesterov Arseniy(Russian – played under the FIDE flag)secured second place(Silver) and International Master (IM) Alexakis Dimitris of Greece secured third place(Bronze).
- Nesterov Arseniy was the only unbeaten player in the open section of the tournament.
Junior Rapid Chess Championship – Girls Category:
i.Woman Grandmaster (WGM) Govhar Beydullayeva of Azerbaijan won the FIDE World Junior Girls U20 Rapid Chess Championship 2023 title.
- Previously, She had won the World Junior U20 Championship title 2022 in Italy.
ii.Woman International Master (WIM) Xeniya Balabayeva of Kazakhstan won the silver medal and WIM Zeinep Sultanbek of Kazakhsta won the bronze medal.
World Junior Blitz Championship – Open Category:
i.GM Mahammad Muradli of Azerbaijan won the FIDE World Junior Blitz Championship title.
- India’s Raunak Sadhwani won the silver medal and IM Arystan Isanzhulov of Kazakhstan won the bronze medal.

i.WIM Xeniya Balabayeva of Kazakhstan won the FIDE World Junior Girls U20 Blitz Championship title.

India wins the 3rd Intercontinental Online Chess Championship for Prisoners:
The Indian team won the 3rd Intercontinental Online Chess Championship for Prisoners in the youth section by defeating the defending champions Serbia in the final.
- The team from Serbia won the silver medal while Ecuador’s team won the bronze medal.
women’s section:
i.The team from Mongolia won the Intercontinental Online Chess Championship for Prisoners title in the women’s section.
- This marks Mongolia’s second consecutive title in the women’s section including their win in 2022..
- England team won the silver medal while El Salvador and Philippines jointly won the bronze medal.
