On December 28, 2022, the Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) launched the Stay Safe Online campaign and the Digital Innovation Alliance (DIA) program, the first-ever programs to be launched worldwide as a G20 (Group of Twenty) initiative.
- The launch was made during an event in New Delhi, Delhi.
About G-20 DIA Program:
Its objective is to identify, recognize and enable the adoption of innovative and impactful digital technologies developed by 174 start-ups, from G20 nations and the invited 9 non-member nations.
i.The entries for digital solutions will be themed on six key sectors viz. Edtech, Healthtech, Agritech, Fintech, secured digital infrastructure and circular economy.
ii.These will be showcased at a three-day event in Bengaluru (Karnataka), on the sidelines of the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) meeting, in August 2023. It will provide start-ups a chance to pitch their ideas, interactions with stakeholders, esteemed panel discussions and investor connections.
iii.The entries will be judged by jury comprising academia, corporates, Ministers and investors. The top three innovations in each sector will be awarded.
Stay Safe Online Campaign:
It will create awareness among citizens of all age groups and backgrounds about cyber risks and ways to tackle them. The campaign will be carried out via the MyGov website in English, Hindi and local languages to reach a wider audience.
i.MeitY also released a video for this campaign, which asks citizens to share instances of cyber safety online with a hashtag for wider reach.
ii.The video is also being translated in all U.N. (United Nations) languages and languages of all G-20 countries and invitee countries for global reach.
Points to be noted:december
i.India will takes on the G20 presidency to be hosted in 2023.
ii.MeiTY, the nodal ministry for the G20 DEWG, during India’s G20 presidency, will focus on three priority areas of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), Cyber Security, and Digital Skill Development.
