The Union Minister of Education and Skill Development, Dharmendra Pradhan launched the ‘Bhasha Sangam Initiative’ for school, ‘Bhasha Sangam Mobile App’ and ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) Quiz App’.
Objective – To make Students to acquire basic conversational proficiency in Indian Languages, other than their Mother tongue, as per the agenda of National Education Policy 2020
It was launched on the occasion of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ which is celebrated on October 31 every year to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, first Deputy Prime Minister of India.
Bhasha Sangam:
i.It is the initiative of the Ministry of Education, launched under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
ii.It teaches the usage of basics of language and improves basic conversational skills in 22 Indian languages.
Note– Schedule VIII of Indian constitution mentioned about 22 languages.
Bhasha Sangam initiative for schools
i.100 sentences in 22 scheduled languages are presented in audio and video form with Indian Sign Language, that will enable school childrens learn other languages in roman script and translations into Hindi and English.
ii.It is developed by NCERT (The National Council of Educational Research and Training).
iii.It is available for school children on DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing )portal, ePathshala and 22 special booklets.
Bhasha Sangam Mobile App
i.It is an initiative under DoHE (Department of Higher Education), in collaboration with MyGov. The App has been developed by a start up Multibhashi.
ii.The App initially has 100 sentences of every day usage in 22 Indian languages. iii. Different stages of the test are available in the app, and on successful completion of course, digital certificates are provided.
Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Quiz App
i.An initiative by the Ministry of Education, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell.
ii.The application has been developed by Nazara Technologies Limited.
iii.The gaming app aims to enrich the youth of India with knowledge on Indian culture, religions, traditions, languages, history etc.
