Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State(MoS), Ministry of Jal Shakti presided over the virtual launch of Swachh Survekshan Grameen(SSG) 2021 under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) (SBM(G)) Phase- II during the event organised by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS).
The SBM(G) Phase II is aimed to achieve the goal of comprehensive cleanliness or Sampoorna Swachhata by addressing Open Defecation Free (ODF) Sustainability and SLWM issues.
Release of SSG 2021 Protocol, Dashboard and Mobile app:
Prahlad Singh Patel MoS, Jal Shakti ministry has also released the SSG 2021 Protocol document; SSG 2021 Dashboard and the mobile App for Citizens feedback.
- The SSG 2021 protocol guides the ranking of Districts on the basis of their performance on key qualitative and quantitative parameters.
- The SSG 2021 Mobile app will be made available in major local Indian Languages.
- The SSG 2021 Dashboard is a comprehensive dashboard with a comparison module developed for self-reporting by districts on 16 indicators.

SSG 2021:
i.DDWS will carry out SSD 2021 across India to expedite Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus interventions and improve the ODF Sustainability as well as Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) activities across the villages in the country.
ii.This is one of India’s largest surveys with around 17475 villages, that provides publicity to the programme and ODF Plus goals and enhance the sanitation, overall cleanliness and waste management of the districts and states.
iii.DDWS has commissioned SSG in 2018 and 2019 to measure the success of the programme.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti is set to deploy sensor-based IoT (Internet of Things) devices to monitor the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in more than six lakh villages. Â With this, it aims to monitor the rural drinking water supply systems in villages.
For this, National Jal Jeevan Mission (NJJM) partnered with Tata Community Initiatives Trust (TCIT) & Tata Trust to complete pilot projects in villages of 5 states – Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra & Himachal Pradesh (Pilot projects went live in September 2020).
