On September 3, 2021, Hansa New Generation (NG) aircraft successfully made its maiden flight and all flight parameters were found normal. It is designed and developed by CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research)-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bengaluru, Karnataka.
- The aircraft took off from HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) airport by Amit Dahiya, test pilot, flew at an altitude of 4000 ft. with a speed of 80 knots for about 20 minutes.
- It will be certified within the next 4 months.
- The project director of HANSA is Abbani Rinku.
Key Points:
i.The flight was monitored in telemetry by senior officers and scientists from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification (CEMILAC) and CSIR-NAL.
ii.Among its key features, there is a glass cockpit with cabin comfort, high efficient digitally controlled engine, electrically operated flaps, Long endurance, low acquisition and Low operating cost.
iii.CSIR-NAL has identified a private partner and series production will start soon.
iv.HANSA NG was issued a type certification from the DGCA in 2020 and manufacturing of the first aircraft for flight trials was initiated in September 2020.
