Dr. Rupinder Singh Sodhi (RS Sodhi) is Managing Director(MD) of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation(GCMMF), Ltd., (AMUL) was honoured with the Asia Pacific Productivity Champion 2020, the regional award of Asian Productivity Organization (APO), Tokyo, Japan. The award recognises India’s enhanced productivity and efficient milk supply chain in the world, where a dairy farmer receives 70-80% of consumer prices compared to the global average of 35-40%.
- He was nominated for the award by the National Productivity Council (NPC) under the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry
- R S Sodhi became the first Indian to receive this award in the past 20 years.
About Asia Pacific Productivity Champion:
i.The Asia Pacific Productivity Champion award is presented every 5 years to the individuals who have made significant contributions towards the advancement of productivity movement in the Asia Pacific region and in a specific member economy of APO.
ii.Each country can nominate only one candidate and only 5 regional nominees receive the award.
iii.The nominations for the award are made by the National Productivity Organizations (NPOs) of member nations.
