The 8th Edition of India-Kyrgyzstan Joint Special Force Military Exercise, ‘Khanjar’ was inaugurated on April 16, 2021. The exercise is taking place at the Special Forces Brigade of National Guards of Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek, Capital of Kyrgyzstan.
- The 2-week Long Military exercise will focus on aspects like high-altitude, mountains and counter-extremism.
- ‘Khanjar’ exercise has been held annually between the two countries since 2011, it intends to boost the strategic partnership between India & Kyrgyz Republic.
India-Kyrgyzstan Defence Relations
- In 2015, India & Kyrgyzstan signed 4 Agreements including one agreement on Boosting Defence cooperation and holding annual Joint Military Exercises.
- The Bilateral Military Exercises are aimed at upholding the values of peace, Prosperity and Trust in Asia.
Branches of India’s Special Forces
India has several Special Forces (SF) units.
Three branches of the Indian Armed Forces have seperate special forces units. They Are
- Para SF of Indian Army
- MARCOS of the Indian Navy
- Garud Commando Force of the Indian Air Force.
