On March 11, 2021, the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) a statutory body of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has set up a portal called ‘SERB – PRoject Information System & Management (SERB – PRISM)’ to retrieve real-time information about research support provided by them.

About SERB – PRISM Portal:
Purpose: It will provide a whole range of information regarding all projects sanctioned by SERB from 2011 onwards.
Information categorized under the portal – status of research, project output details (publication & patents), funding details, research trends & summary, learn about cutting-edge science, locate critical equipment in their vicinity.
Search operation of the Portal:
It works as a comprehensive tool to search year-wise listing and project equipment that have been sanctioned by the board using names of Principal Investigators (PIs), state, institutions, topics, and other keywords.
Suggestion given:
Prof. Sandeep Verma, Secretary, SERB, suggested linking the portal with important sectors such as water, energy, and climate as well as with Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR).
Recent Related News:
On February 5, 2021 The Delhi Cabinet approved the Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha scheme, under which Rs. 5000 will be provided as a science scholarship to 1000 meritorious students of Class 9 in the schools of Delhi.

The Government of India established SERB through the Science and Engineering Research Board Act, 2008.
Objectives of SERB:
- Promoting basic research in Science and Engineering and
- provide financial assistance to persons engaged in such research, academic institutions, research and development laboratories, industrial concerns and other agencies
