ANMOL app under national health missionJammu & Kashmir Financial Commissioner of Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo distributed tablets among Auxiliary Nursing Midwives (ANMs) & launched the application ‘ANMOL’ under the National Health Mission(NHM).

Aim

The app will help the beneficiaries(People), to know about all the Schemes & the benefits of NHM.

Significance of the app ANMOL:

  • The app will empower ANMs and frontline health workers to carry out their day-to-day work efficiently and effectively. It will help the health workers by identifying and tracking the beneficiaries.
  • The app allows ANMs to enter and update records of beneficiaries on a real-time basis hence it will ensure correct data entry and update of it with improved quality and accountability.

Tablets Distribution:

  • Around 4,445 tablets will be distributed among the ANMs in Jammu and Kashmir with preloaded ANMOL application under this mission.
  • Since the app will work in offline mode it will be suitable for the remote areas of the state where there is low internet connectivity.

About National Health Mission(NHM):

It was launched by the Government of India in 2013 with an aim of attaining universal access to equitable, affordable and quality health care services under the two sub missions of

  1. NUHM – National Urban Health Mission and
  2. NRHM – National Rural Health Mission – under this mission special focus has been given to the Empowered Action Group (EAG) States, North Eastern States, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Note: Empowered Action Group (EAG) States – the eight socio economically backward states of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are referred to as the EAG states.

About Auxiliary nurse midwife(ANM):

Auxiliary nurse midwife, commonly known as ANM, is a village-level female health worker in India who is known as the first contact person between the community and the health services.

Background:

  • Mukherjee Committee in 1966 identified ANMs and other village-level workers as agents for the popularization of the health programmes.
  • In 1973, the Kartar Singh Committee recommended that there should be 1 ANM available per 10,000-12,000 people.
  • In 1986, the National Education Policy gave the ANM programme a status of Vocational Education. According to the latest guidelines by Indian Nursing Council (INC), the minimum age for admission to an ANM course should be 17 years while the maximum age limit is 35 years.
