The Central Government has reconstituted the governing council of the NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as its chairperson.
- The full time members of the council will be the chief ministers of all states and those of the Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Puducherry.
- The Lieutenant Governors of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ladakh, and the administrators of Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep will be special invitees of governing council.
–PM chairs 6th meeting of NITI Aayog Governing Council
The PM Narendra Modi virtually chaired the 6th meeting of NITI Aayog. The agenda of the meeting includes deliberations on agriculture, infrastructure, manufacturing, human resource development, service delivery at grassroots level and health and nutrition.
- Discussions were held with the governing council on inter-sectoral, inter-departmental and federal issues.
- Notably, this met saw the entry of Ladakh for the first time, along with participation of Jammu and Kashmir as a UT.
Other Participants: The Governing Council Meeting was attended by 26 Chief Ministers, three Lieutenant Governors and two Administrators, apart from Union Ministers, who are Ex-Officio Members, and Special Invitees.
