On February 17-19, 2021, a three-day 29th NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Forum (NTLF) 2021 is being held virtually on the theme “Shaping the future towards a better normal”. It is organized by NASSCOM with Maharashtra Government as a state partner and Microsoft as Technology Partner. NASSCOM stands for National Association of Software and Service Companies.
- On February 17, 2021, the forum was virtually addressed by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi.
- It is being attended by 1600 participants from over 30 countries and more than 30 products.
Aim of NTLF 2021:
Its aim is to achieve three key objectives:
–To celebrate technology which has enhanced businesses during the crisis
–To draw a roadmap for building a better future
–To bring out the importance of trust and responsible tech in this hyper virtual world.
Key Points from PM Modi Address:
–He called for world class products and leaders in the run up to 100 years of Independence in 2047.
–The inclusion of Information services into 12 service sectors is showing positive results.
–Steps like National Education Policy and Atal Tinkering labs and Atal Incubation Centre are promoting skilling and innovation and need industry support.
–Technology is being used in Governance like geo tagging of infrastructure products, use of drones in mapping village households and reduction in human interface to improve transparency especially in tax related matters.
Growth Prediction:
At Nasscom’s annual strategic review for 2020-21,it forecasts an annual growth of 2.3 per cent to $194 billion for India’s IT and IT enabled services (ITeS) sector & Exports by the IT and ITeS sector would touch $150 billion, a 1.9 per cent on-year growth, and contributed about 8 per cent to the gross domestic product (GDP).
Other Addresses: Apart from the PM, this event will be addressed by industry professionals like Chairman and CEO of IBM Arvind Krishna, President and CEO of HCL Technologies C Vijayakumar, CEO of Accenture Julie Sweet, President and CEO of Cyient Karthikeyan Natarajan and Aditya Birla Group’s Group Executive President (Corporate Strategy and Business) D. Shivakumar will also address this event.
