On November 1, 2020, British Driver Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) won the 2020 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix (officially known as the Formula 1 Emirates Gran Premio dell’Emilia Romagna 2020) held at Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy. This was Hamilton’s record extending 93rd F1 victory. The Championships are organized by Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
i.Finland Driver Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) finished second, while Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo (Renault) finished third.
ii.The One-Two Finish of Mercedes drivers in the race gave the Mercedes team their 7th Successive Formula One Constructors title, which is a new all-time record.
iii.The race was the 13th round of the 2020 Formula One World Championship.
Key Points:
i.With 7 Titles (2014-2020), Mercedes has overtaken Ferrari for the record of consecutive Constructors Title championship. Mercedes had matched Ferrari’s Record consecutive titles from 1999-2004 by winning the constructor’s championship title in 2019.
ii.The victory moved Mercedes level with Lotus F1 in fourth place for all-time titles, behind McLaren (8), Williams (9) and record-holders Ferrari (16).
iii.Formula 1 returned to Imola for the first time since 2006 and the first-ever running of a race under the name of Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
iv.With this win, Lewis Hamilton with 282 points, extended the lead over Mercedes Teammate and 2nd Placed Valtteri Bottas to 85 points for the 2020 Driver’s Championship title.
