On 21st October 2020, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister(CM) of Andhra Pradesh(AP) launched the “YSR Bima” scheme to provide insurance cover for death or permanent disability of any family member of the beneficiary. The scheme provides an immediate financial aid of Rs.10000 for the families of the victims. It will be the first time in India that a state government will be single-handedly funding the insurance scheme.
The immediate assistance will be provided through the Village and Ward Secretariats.

YSR Bima scheme:
Aim:
To provide relief to the families of the unorganised workers in case of any accident, death or disability.
Features:
i.The unorganised workers of age between 18 and 70 will be registered under the Unorganised Worker Social Security Act, 2008 and will be enrolled as the beneficiary of the YSR Bima scheme.
ii.The registered workers will also be enrolled as a member of State Accident Death and Disability Scheme, Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
Benefits:
Upto 2 children of the beneficiary studying 9th, 10th, intermediate or ITI will be supported with a scholarship of Rs.1200 per year.
Accidental death and Total disability:
i.For the beneficiaries aged between 18 to 50, a total amount of Rs.5 lakhs will be provided as Rs. 2.25 Lakh from State Accident Death and Disability Scheme, Rs.75000 from AABY and Rs. 2 lakhs from PMSBY.
ii.For Beneficiaries aged between 51 to 70, a total amount of Rs.3 lakhs will be provided.
Natural Death:
i.For the beneficiaries aged between 18 to 50, Rs. 2 lakhs will be paid.
ii.In case of natural death Rs.30000 will be provided to the beneficiaries under the AABY.
Partial permanent disability:
A total of up to Rs.3,62,500 will be provided as upto Rs.2.25 lakh from State Accident Death and Disability Scheme, Rs.1 lakh from PMSBY and Rs.37500 from AABY.
