On September 15, 2020 The Horticulture Department of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) launched “Backyard Horticulture” Programme under CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) scheme at Panchyat Jaswan in Marh Block of Jammu district.
The main aim of the programme is to promote organic fruit production for home consumption and for fulfilling individual requirements.
Key Points:
i.Three fruit plants costing Rs. 200 will be distributed among the farmers at 90% subsidy.
ii.The Programme will be covering 600 households in Zone Marh, Jammu district.
iii.A demonstration on cultural practices was given to the farmers on the practice to be adopted while planting the fruits plants in their backyard to keep away the insect and diseases.
iv.They were instructed to plant the fruit plants in the backyard of their houses to ensure increase in green cover for preservation of the environment.
CAPEX Scheme:
According to the Union Government, capital expenditure is the money spent on acquisition of assets and investment in shares which are crucial for rapid economic growth.
