On 17th August 2020, Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) launched VedKrishi.com, an Online Farm to Fork Service, over a virtual platform. The portal is promoted by the farmers for selling toxic free farm produce.
The platform was set up by the VedKrishi Farmer Producer Company, Nagpur based farmer producer Company.
Features of the platform:
For consumers:
i.The online portal enables the company to directly connect the farmers with the consumers.
ii.The consumers registered under this portal will be enabled to schedule their order in advance for one year.
iii.Online home delivery option will be enabled for the consumers along with the offline option with the regular and fixed schedule of theVedKrishi shops on wheels.
For Farmers:
i.The company will offer advice on the day to day farming issues and paid visits to VedKrishi farms to provide more understanding about the VedKrishi.
ii.The company will support the farmers to have sustainable income.
iii.The portal will provide the details of the farmers along with the products.
Note:
As of now the online portal http://www.vedkrishi.com/index.php is not operational and the portal will be launched in 2 to 3 months time.
Target:
The portal will expand in Nagpur and the areas in the surroundings targeting sound 300 farmers as the initial target.
It is planned to scale up to Maharashtra and then across India.
Other services of VedKrishi:
i.VedKrishi supports the farmers through consultations on best practices in organic farming.
ii.They also provide farm inputs like compost, biofertilizer, pest control solutions to the farmers apart from the mentoring and guidance on better farming techniques.
iii.To process and dry the farm produce to achieve zero wastage and through affordable means the company offers solar dryers to the farmers.
