On 17th August 2020, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda inaugurated the first of its kind e-portal “Swasthya”, a tribal health and nutrition portal and Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) also launched e-newsletter on health and nutrition ALEKH and opening of National Overseas Portal and National Tribal Fellowship Portal.
Through the Goal programme the MoTA and facebook is reaching out to the Tribal Youths and Girls over the digital platform to develop their entrepreneurial skills and to empower them in the social and economic sectors.
Key People:
Arjun Munda, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Renuka Singh Saruta, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, V.P. Joy, Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat and the officers of MoTA led by Deepak Khandekar, Secretary of MoTA along with Paresh Parasnis, CEO of Piramal Foundation, Shailendra Hegde, Vice President Public Health Innovations, Piramal Swasthya and Rajat Arora, Facebook were present during the launch event.
Key points:
i.Arjun Munda also launched the initiative of MoTA with Facebook to empower the tribal youths to gain leadership skills, identify the social problems and to become a leading resource in their field of influence.
ii.This initiative will be under the ‘Going Online as Leaders (GOAL)’ Programme, through which the ministry aims to provide mentors to around 5000 tribal youths across india.
iii.The road map of the program including the mobile distribution and launch of the program will be on 5th September 2020, Teachers Day 2020.
Swasthya – tribal Health & Nutrition Portal:
i.The “Swasthya” portal is hosted on the National Informatics Centre (NIC) cloud under the domain name http://swasthya.tribal.gov.in/
Aim:
To reduce the difference in the healthcare standard between the tribal and non-tribal population.
Swasthya:
i.Over a single platform this portal provides the information related to the health and nutrition of the tribal population of India.
ii.The portal manages innovative practices, research briefs, case studies and the best practices which were followed across India and enable the exchange of evidence, expertise and experience.
Centre of Excellence:
i.The MoTA recognised Piramal Swasthya as the Centre of Excellence for Knowledge Management (CoE for KM) for Health and Nutrition.
ii.The CoE will work with the ministry and provide inputs to drive the policies based on evidence and to make decisions related to the health and nutritions of the tribal people.
National Overseas and National Fellowship portal:
i.V.P. Joy, opened the National Overseas and National Fellowship portal for inviting online applications for the academic year 2020-21.
ii.The portal has a database consisting of data related to all the scholarship schemes through the Direct Benefit Transfer(DBT).
iii.This will enable the transparency and efficiency through the performance dashboard.
Performance Dashboard:
i.The dashboard http://dashboard.tribal.gov.in/ was developed by the Centre of Excellence of Data Analytics (CEDA), organization under National Informatics Centre (NIC).
ii.Navaljit Kapoor, Joint Secretary, MoTA gave a presentation of the Performance Dashboard of MoTA where various outcome indicators of 11 schemes and other initiatives of the ministry were reflected.
iii.The dashboard is a part of the Digital india Initiative working towards the empowerment of the tribal communities.
iv.The dashboard provides access to the various parameters of the performance of the MoTA and other 37 ministries which spend the allocated budget amount for the welfare of tribal communities under the STC components according to the mechanism framed by NITI Aayog.
ALEKH:
Renuka Singh Saruta, MoS for Tribal Affairs released “ALEKH”, the quarterly e-newsletter.
This will enable the stakeholders to showcase their efforts and share their knowledge.
