On 13th August 2020, Government of Goa signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Siemens Limited, India and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), India to provide world class German dual vocational education and training(VET) in Goa’s Industrial Training Institutes(ITIs). This is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the state government, industry and an international development for skill training in Goa.
The Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Siemens Limited and The German-headquartered GIZ signed the MoU over a virtual platform.
Features of the MoU:
i.Under this MoU, Siemens and GIZ India will provide training to the instructors of the ITIs and will provide support throughout the process.
ii.It will provide in-plant training and hands-on experience in the respective fields.
iii.It will provide exposure to the latest technologies in the industries which will improve the employability of the graduates.
iv.Various skills including the skills that are currently taught in the ITI’s like electrician, mechanical electronics, fitter, turner and machinist will be provided.
Benefits:
i.This Indo-German initiative will improve the employability of the ITI graduates.
ii.This will up-skill the ITI graduates including green skilling with the latest technological developments in the industries.
