On 20th July 2020, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries(MoFPI) e-inaugurated the first operationalized mega food park of Mizoram, Zoram Mega Food Park, in Khamrang Village in Kolasib District, Mizoram, promoted by M/s Zoram Mega Food Park Pvt. Ltd, which will provide directly benefit over 25,000 farmers and will provide employment opportunities to over 5,000 people in the region.

Lalthangliana, Mizoram Minister of Commerce and Industries and C. Lalrosanga (Member of Parliament, Mizoram) were present during the virtual inauguration.
Zoram Mega Food Park:
The Zoram Mega Food Park project has been set up in a 55 acre of land at a cost of Rs.75.20 crore.
Facilities:
i.Besides the state of art enabling infrastructure The facility consist has,
- Cold storage of capacity 1000 MT
- Drywarehouse of 3000MT
- Aseptic pulp line with canning, aseptic and tetra packing of 2MT per hour
- Ripening chambers of 40 MT per hour
- Spices Drying facility of 2 MT per hour
- Food Testing Laboratory.
ii.The park also has an administrative building for office and other purposes and 3 Primary processing centres at Champhai Thingfal and Thenzawl.
Benefits:
i.The park will leverage an additional investment of Rs. 250 Crore in about 30 food processing units and will lead to a turnover of Rs.450-500 crores annually.
ii.The modern infrastructure for food processing will benefit the around 25,000 farmers in the Core Processing Centre(CPC) and PrimaryProcessing Centre(PPC), processors and consumers of Mizoram.
iii.The park has primary processing and storage facilities of the parks near the farms in the catchment area to benefit the farmers.
Additional projects:
i.Around 88 projects supported by the ministry of food processing Industries are sanctioned in the Northeast region and 41 projects have been implemented
ii.On completion the 88 projects will create a processing and preservation capacity of 8.66 Lakh Metric Ton(MT) to handle agricultural produce worth Rs.2166 crores.
iii.Projects worth Rs.1000 crores have been sanctioned with subsidy support of over Rs.520 crores.
