On 26 June 2020, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Agriculture & Farmers welfare, launched a web portal of the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan (GKRA) through video conferencing from New Delhi.
Sadhvi niranjan jyoti, MoS Rural Development and Shri Nagendra Nath Sinha, Secretary of Rural Development along with 116 Central Nodal officers attended the video conference.
GKRA:-
- The GKRA was launched with coordination of 12 ministries for 25 categories of works to be completed in 125 days and allotted with Rs 50,000 crore .
- The GKRA provides employment for four months to the state returned skilled workers.
- The Programme will be implemented in 116 districts of six states (Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh) with a total outlay of Rs 50,000.
- It provides information about all the components of the abhiyan District wise and scheme wise) and enables monitoring the works undergone in the scheme.
In the workshop for the Central Nodal Officers of 116 districts Shri Nagendra Nath Sinha outlined the roles and responsibilities of the Ministries, state governments, District administrations towards the GKRA.
