On June 16, 2020 Indian Railways’ Central Railway zone has installed an Automated Ticket Checking & Managing Access(ATMA) machine, 1st of its kind at Nagpur station. The machine has been introduced at the station under the New, Innovative Non Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme(NINFRIS) policy to prevent transmission of COVID-19.
- This is an Innovative Earning Contract, implemented by Nagar(NGP) Central Railways(CR) for the prevention of COVID-19.
- ATMA ensures safety for passengers & railway staff as it adheres to social distancing norms
Features of ATMA:
ATMA will be placed at the entrance of the railway station.
i.Checking-It has digital screens which will check the human body temperature with a Human thermal scanning device, check whether the passengers are wearing masks, their tickets are valid, whether the passenger carries their ID cards & check the Passenger Name Record(PNR) of the ticket.
ii.2 way mic- There is a 2 way mic system to guide railway passengers or raise any questions by the ticket checking staff who will be sitting and monitoring inside the cabin.
iii.Signal to open the gate- After cleared by the railway staff, the machine will send signal to open the gate for the passenger
iv.Reduce staff deployment- It reduces staff deployment of commercial, Railway Protection Force (RPF) & medical departments with automation and adequate safety. RPF personnel will be deployed to monitor the process.
v.Increase Non fare revenue- It will increase the Non Fare Revenue for the Central Railway zone.
Note– Recently, Indian Railways also introduced a new automated face mask and hand sanitizer dispenser machine at Patna Junction to facilitate those who forgot to carry their sanitizer or mask.
