On 29th April, Every year the International Dance has been celebrated since 1982 by the International Dance Committee(IDC) of International Theatre Institute (ITI) to educate the people on the various dance forms around the world. TheUnited Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) allocated International Theatre Institute (ITI) and International Dance Committee(IDC) as the organizer of the event.This day also marks the birth anniversary of Jean-George Noverre(29th April 1727), the creator of modern ballet.Key Point:
i.The Goal of the day is to promote dance in all its forms across the world, to create awareness about the value of dance forms to people, governments and leaders, to promote dance community to enjoy and share the joy of dance
ii.The ITI invites its members along with the dancers, choreographers, students and enthusiasts to participate in the Gala Celebration which will be held in the city selected by the Executive Council of the ITI.
iii.The Executive council of ITI chooses an expert in the field of dance-dancer or choreographer to send a message on the significance of dance and to be the author for the events. The message is translated into many languages and circulated globally.
iv.This year’s author for International Dance Day is Gregory Vuyani MAQOMA- dancer, Choreographer, Actor, Dance Educator.
v.People all over the world celebrate this day on social media by sharing their dance videos from their homes during this lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.
