The India women’s cricket team played with West Indies women’s cricket team betwwen 1 November – 20 November 2019. The tour consisted of three Women’s One Day Internationals (WODIs), which formed part of the 2017–20 ICC Women’s Championship, and five Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) matches.WODI series (From Nov 1-6, 2019): India won the WODI series with 2–1 scores held in Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua.
Captains: Stafanie Taylor led the West Indies team & Mithali Raj led the Indian team.
WT20I series (From nov 9-20, 2019): Indian women’s cricket team won the match by 61 runs by beating the West Indies with 5–0 scores in the five-match T20 series held in Providence Stadium, Providence, Guyana. The first 2 out of 5 series was held in Darren Sammy Cricket Ground, Gros Islet.
Captains: Anisa Mohammed led the West Indies team & Harmanpreet Kaur led the Indian team.
i.Player of the Match title won by Veda Krishnamurthy & Player of the Series title was secured by Shafali Verma.
Records Broken
15-year-old Shafali Verma scored her first half-century in the first T20 International against the West Indies women’s team in St. Lucia. She thus became the youngest Indian to score an international half-century at the age of 15 years and 286 days and breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s 30 year old record(Sachin had scored his maiden fifty aged 16 years and 214 days in 1989).
Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav reaches top 5 of ICC T20 rankings 2019
India’s Jemimah Rodrigues has moved up to 4th place in the batsmen’s list of the latest ICC (International Cricket Council )Women’s T20 International Player Rankings2019 with 699 ratings, while spinner Radha Yadav is 2nd in the bowlers list with 769 ratings.
Key Points:
i.New Zealand cricketer Suzie Bates topped in T20I Batting Rankings & Australian cricketer Megan Schutt topped in T20I Bowling Rankings.
ii.Shafali Verma has also progressed in the rankings after playing a key role in sweeping the series 5–0 over the West Indies & she gained 57 places to finish 30th.
