National Cadet Corps Day

National Cadet Corps (NCC), the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world, annually celebrates the NCC Raising Day on the 4th Sunday of November. The day is celebrated across India by the NCC cadets with marches, blood donation camps and social development programmes.

The 28th November 2021 marks the observance of the 73rd NCC Raising Day.

  • The 72nd NCC Raising day was observed on 22nd November 2020.
  • The 74th NCC Raising Day will be observed on 27th November 2022.

NCC Alumni Association:

i.Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the NCC Alumni Association during a ceremony held at Jhansi on 19th November 2021.

ii.PM Modi has also enrolled himself as the first member of the NCC Alumni Association.

Additional info:

i.Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that following the expansion of the NCC Coverage in border and coastal regions of India, a total of 1 lakh additional cadet strength in all 3 streams of India’s Armed Forces was achieved.

ii.He also invited the former NCC cadets across the nation to join the NCC Alumni Association

National Cadet Corps (NCC):


  • The NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst youngsters.
  • NCC provides unique opportunities to the youth for self-development through multifaceted activities and a varied curriculum.


i.The Cadet Corps Committee was formed on 29th September 1946 with Pt HN Kunzru as chairman.

ii.The NCC of Independent India was inaugurated in  July 1948.

iii.Then Colonel (later Chief of Army Staff) Gopal Gurunath Bewoor served as the 1st Director (now called Director General(DG)) of NCC.
