India celebrated it’s 66th Republic Day on January 26’2015.

US President Barack Obama was the Chief Guest of this day. It was the first time that the US President attended the Republic Day Function.

Theme for the 66th Republic Day Parade was Nari Shakthi which means Women Empowerment.

For the first time, India displayed its recently acquired long-range maritime surveillance and anti-submarine P-8I aircraft and the long-range advanced MiG-29K fighter plane.

For the first time in the history of India’s Republic Day, all-women contingent from Army, Air Force and Navy force marched down in the parade.

President Obama arrived in The Beast for the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath in New Delhi. The Beast is also referred as Cadillac One and occasionally as Limo One is the official state car used by the President of US.

Late Major Mukund Varadarajan and Naik Neeraj Kumar Singh were awarded posthumously the highest peacetime military honour, the Ashok Chakra, by President Pranab Mukherjee. The two army personnel laid down their lives while combating militants in Kashmir Valley.

The aircraft for transporting the President of US is called Air Force One.

India and the United States have signaled a “new era” in their relations and the leaders of both countries have signed a number of new deals.

Obama has announced $4 billion in government-backed investments and lending to India.
