Exercise Tiger Triumph-25, the 4th edition of bilateral Tri-Service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise between India and the United States of America (USA), commenced on the Eastern Seaboard on April 01, 2025 and will continue till April 13, 2025.
- Also, the Harbour Phase of exercise commenced at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP) on April 1, 2025 and will last till April 07, 2025 during which an Opening Ceremony with a joint Flag Parade and Media interaction was organised onboard Indian Naval Ship (INS) Jalashwa.
- The closing ceremony of the exercise will held on board US Navy Ship Comstock at Vishakapatnam.
Background:
i.‘Tiger Triumph’ is a tri-service military exercise held between India and the USA since 2009.
ii.The exercise is usually held at different locations across India, emphasizing joint training in both land and maritime operations.
iii.The previous edition of the Exercise ‘Tiger Triumph’ was held in November 2023. It took place in the Bay of Bengal, off the eastern coast of India.
About Ex-Tiger Triumph 2025:
i.The exercise is aimed at developing interoperability for conducting HADR operations and framing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to set up a Combined Coordination Center (CCC) that would enable rapid and seamless coordination between Indian and USA Joint Task Forces (JTF) during exercises and crisis.
ii.Participants from India: Indian Navy (IN)is represented by various INSs like: Jalashwa, Gharial, Mumbai, and Shakti with integral helicopters and landing crafts embarked, Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft P8I;
- The participating unit from Indian Army (IA) includes one 91 Inf Brigade.
- Indian Air Force (IAF) is represented by C-130 Aircraft and MI-17 Helicopters, along with the Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT).
- While, the USA side is represented by US Navy Ships Comstock and Ralph Johnson with troops of the US Marine Division embarked.
iii.Participants from both countries will engage in training visits, subject matter expert exchanges, sports events and social interactions.
- Under the Sea phase, the ships with troops embarked, will undertake maritime, amphibious and HADR operations off Kakinada.
iv.During the exercise, a joint command and control center, will be set up by Indian Army (IA) along with US Marines at Kakinada Naval Enclave in AP.
- Also, the IAFRAMT(Indian Air Force Radio and Messaging Terminal) and the US Navy medical team will establish a joint medical camp providing medical assistance.
