49th edition World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2019 , the world championships for artistic gymnastics governed by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG),held at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart, Germany, from October 4- 13 ,2019 with the participation total of 288 men and 259 women.
Medal Tally:
United States topped the medal tally with a total of 8 medal(5gold, 2silver, 1Bronze) followed by Russia (3gold, 3silver, 3Bronze) Great Britain (2 gold,1 silver, 1 Bronze).
Key points:
i. From India, 6 member team comprising of men and women participated but no one qualified for the final. In the women’s all-round qualification, Pranati Nayak was ranked 127th and 132nd respectively with 45.832 points and Pranati Das with 45.248 points.
American gymnast Simone biles won 19th world title, breaks the record for most world medals won by any gymnast
American veteran gymnast Simone Biles (22) achieved her record 19th world title at the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Stuttgart, Germany.
Key points:
i. Biles achieved her 25th medal (19 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze ) overall and with this, she became the highest medal female gymnast. She breaking a tie on 23 with the Belarusian men’s gymnast Vitaly Scherbo.
ii. Biles finished Stuttgart game with 5 gold medals (team gold, individual all-around gold ,vault gold , beam and floor finals).
