TIME’s The World’s Greatest Places of 2024 featured 3 Indian destinations namely the Museum of Solutions (MuSo), Mumbai, Maharashtra; Manam Chocolate, a chocolate factory in Hyderabad, Telangana; and Naar, a restaurant in Himachal Pradesh.
- The 2024 list recognised 100 extraordinary destinations to visit and stay. The list compiles places including hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks, etc, from across the globe.
- The 3 Indian destinations were listed under the Place to Visit category of the list.
About the 2024 list:
i.In 2024, the list expanded from 50 cities (in 2023) to 100 extraordinary destinations, highlighting specific establishments that stand out in their respective fields globally.
ii.TIME compiled the 2024 list by soliciting nominations from its international network of correspondents, contributors, and an application process, focusing on new and exciting experiences.
iii.The companies and organisations chosen for the list become part of an exclusive TIME community, a networking group.
About Museum of Solutions (MuSo):
i.MuSo, founded by Tanvi Jindal Shete, is a large facility, spanning 100,000 square feet in Mumbai’s Lower Parel district.
ii.Unlike typical children’s museums, MuSo focuses on a solution-oriented approach that goes beyond traditional learn-through-play models.
iii.The non-profit museum features 4 distinct labs, where children aged 2 to 17 can experiment with various subjects.
iv.By the end of 2024, the museum plans to set up a Changemakers Panel, a first-of-its-kind initiative in India (and globally) where children aged 11 to 14 will help design new programs and exhibits.
About Manam Chocolate:
i.Manam Chocolate Karkhana, founded by Chaitanya Muppala, is located on Banjara Hills in Hyderabad.
ii.It works with over 100 farmers and fermenters across the West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, India’s largest cacao-growing region.
iii.Manam has received accolades from the International Institute of Chocolate and Cacao Tasting and the United Kingdom’s (UK) Academy of Chocolate.
iv.It features beautifully packaged bars in unique flavors like chai biscuit and pistachio fudge and each chocolate bar carries the name of the farmer.
About Naar:
i.Naar (translating to Fire in Kashmiri) was opened by a Kashmiri chef Prateek Sadhu at the Amaya boutique hotel in Himachal Pradesh in 2023.
ii.Naar focuses on Himalayan cuisine, showcasing ingredients and dishes from across the Himalayan region.
