2nd edition of joint naval exercise “Samudra Shakti 2019 ” between India & Indonesia held in Bay of Bengal

The 2nd divisional naval exercise ‘Samudra Shakti 2019 ‘ between India navy & Indonesia navy was held in Bay of Bengal, the northeastern part of the Indian Ocean,from November 6-7,2019. INS (Indian Naval Ship) Kamorta, an anti-submarine warfare corvette was jointly exercising with Indonesian warship KRI (Kapal Republik Indonesia) Usman Harun as part of the exercise.
Joint navel exercise Samudr shakthiKey Highlights:
i.
The aim of this joint exercise is to expand mutual relations, deepen maritime cooperation and adopt each other’s best practices.

ii.Harbor phase of practice was conducted from November 4-5,2019 at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.During this time, the navies of the two countries met each other’s warships and hold mutual talks in the form of subject matter expert exchanges (SMEE), cross deck visits, simulator drills, planning conferences, sports fixtures and social interactions.

iii.Indonesian Ambassador to India Sidharto Reza, Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command & other officials were present during harbour phase.

iv.It was progressed by Sea Phase which included operations such as Surface warfare exercises, air defence exercises, weapon firing drills, helicopter operations and boarding operations.

v.The 1st edition of ‘Samudra Shakti 2018’ was held at the port of Surabaya, Indonesia.
