2nd CCTNS Hackathon and Cyber Challenge 2020-21 of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) Inaugurated (1)On 3rd February 2021, the 2nd Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) Hackathon and Cyber Challenge 2020-21 of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) was inaugurated in New Delhi. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Union Home Secretary, Ajay Kumar Bhalla.

Aim:

To enhance analysis and deepen understanding of police personnel.

Key People:

i.Ram Phal Pawar, IPS, Director of NCRS along with other senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs and NCRB participated in the inauguration event.

ii.Senior police officers of the States and Union Territories participated in the event over a virtual platform.

About the hackathon:

i.The 2nd CCTNS Hackathon and Cyber Challenge 2020-21 is the continuation of the Hackathon & Cyber Challenge which concluded in March 2020.

ii.Police officials from cutting edge level, academia, industry, students and others participated in the hackathon to improve the existing IT applications and identify new IT applications to improve the CCTNS ecosystem.

Launch of “Locate Nearest Police Station” Mobile App:

i.During the inauguration of the 2nd CCTNS Hackathon and Cyber Challenge 2020-21 the mobile application “Locate Nearest Police Station” was launched. This will improve the accessibility of the Police to the citizens.

ii.The app will be available in the master police portal (https://digitalpolice.gov.in/) of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

iii.This App will help various users including women commuters, interstate travelers, domestic and foreign tourists etc. especially during any emergency and has the facility to dial 112.

iv.This is one of the Central Citizen Services provided by the NCRB.

v.The other services of NCRB includes Missing Person Search, Generate Vehicle NOC, Proclaimed Offenders Information and others.

On October 26, 2020, Ramanan Ramanathan, Mission Director Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and Additional Secretary NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog launched ‘India–Australia Circular Economy Hackathon (I-ACE)’ which will be organized by NITI Aayog’s AIM on December 7-8, 2020 in association with Australia’s national science agency, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
