Between 1st to 7th February 2016, 245 villages have been electrified across the country under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY).
- Out of these electrified villages, Assam is on the top with 82 villages followed by Odisha (77), Jharkhand (69), Chhattisgarh (13) and 2 each in Tripura and Madhya Pradesh.

GOI has decided to electrify 18,452 villages within 1000 days i.e. by 01st May, 2018. During 2015-16, 5027 villages have been electrified till date.
- Out of remaining 13,425 villages, 10,487 villages are to be electrified through grid, 1997 villages are to be electrified through off- grid where grid solutions are out of reach due to geographical barriers and 941 villages are to be electrified by State Govt
Monitoring of DDUGJY
A close monitoring is being done through Gram Vidyut Abhiyanta (GVA) to expedite the further progress.
- Various actions like reviewing the progress on monthly basis during the RPM meeting have been taken on regular basis.
About Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana
In July 2015 PM Modi had launched the flagship programme Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) of the Ministry of Power to facilitate 24×7 power supply. The scheme replaced Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY).The scheme initiated the reforms in rural areas by improving the sub-transmission and distribution network to improve the quality and reliability of the supply.
