The United States of America (USA) topped the medal tally with 4 medals(2 gold and 2 silver).

2023 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 1, held from 18th to 23rd April 2023, is a part of the 2023 Archery World Cup (Officially Hyundai Archery World Cup).

 About 2023 Hyundai Archery World Cup:

i.2023 Hyundai Archery World Cup is the 17th edition of the international archery circuit organised annually by World Archery.

ii.The 2023 World Cup consists of four events, and will run from April 19 to September 10, 2023.

Note: The stage two of the Hyundai Archery World Cup 2023 will be held in Shanghai, China in May 2023.

India ended the tournament with two gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

Indian archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam wins gold in women’s individual compound and mixed team events

Indian archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam wins individual gold in Compound Women in World Cup Stage 1 in Turkey by defeating Colombia’s Sara Lopez 149-146.

  •         She also won Compound Mixed Team Event with her partner Ojas Pravin Deotale (India) with a 159-154 win over Chinese Taipei’s Chen Yi Hsuan and Chem Chieh Lun.

Note: This was India’s second ever World Cup gold medal in the mixed compound event. Jyothi and veteran Abhishek Verma had clinched their maiden gold in World Cup-3 in Paris 2022.

Jyothi matches world record to secure top seed in Archery World Cup

Jyothi Surekha Vennam matched the record qualifying score of 713 points to top the leaderboard in the season-opening World Cup Stage 1. She landed the arrow on target 66 times out of 72 shots to match Sara Lopez’s world record score that she had achieved during the 2015 Colombian National selections.

Indian men’s recurve team wins silver

The Indian Men’s Recurve Team clinched a silver medal after losing to China in the final. The men’s recurve team comprised of Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das and Dhiraj Bommadevara.

Dhiraj Bommadevara wins bronze in men’s recurve

Dhiraj grabbed bronze medal in his World Cup debut by defeating Ilfat Abdullin of Kazakhstan 7-3 (28-28, 29-26, 28-29, 29-27, 29-27) in individual  men’s recurve section.
