UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Launched U-Rise Portal for Students 

U-Rise'-portal-for-Student-Empowerment'-inaugurated-by-UP-CM-Yogi-AdityanathOn September 24, 2020 Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister(CM) of Uttar Pradesh(UP) launched Unified Re-imagined Innovation for Student Empowerment (U-Rise) portal in Lucknow, UP. The portal guides the students in learning, career counselling, and getting employment in the state. It was developed by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. It is a joint initiative by the Department of Technical Education, Department, Training, Employment and the Skill Development Mission.

  • U-Rise portal aims to ensure a uniform quality education for all students who can improve their learning curve while using this portal.
  • UP is the 1st state to launch a unified portal along with implementation of  National Education Policy (NEP)-2020.

Note– Besides launching the portal he also laid the foundation stones of new projects Lucknow.

Points to be Noted

i.U-Rise portal is the part of the 2nd phase of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Qualitative Reforms Programme launched in 2017 to improve the quality of technical education institutions.

ii.CM released Rs 100 crore for the second phase of the Programme, which will be spent on digital and physical infrastructure development.

Key Info

Yogi Adityanath stated that this launch is the biggest reform programme in the education sector after the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020.

About the Portal

i.About 20 lakh students who are getting vocational and technical education, and technical experts will benefit from this portal.

ii.The e-content, e-library, and online courses that are available on this portal can also be accessed by students in the most interior areas of the state.

iii.Apart from empowering students, it will also provide a useful platform to get exposure to the whole world.

Gist about National Education Policy (NEP) 2020:

NEP, 2020 was approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is the 1st education policy of the 21st century. It has replaced 34 years old NPE, 1986.

  • It is aligned to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-4 of 2030 Agenda.
  • It aims to universalize education from  pre-school to secondary level with 100 % Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in school education by 2030.
  • It also aims to achieve 100% youth and adult literacy.

On July 21, 2020 Haryana Chief Minister(CM) Manohar Lal Khattar launched e-Sachivalaya portal( https://esachivalaya.edisha.gov.in/ ), a digital platform to enable people to take online appointments for virtual meetings with the chief minister, deputy CM, ministers and other heads of various departments. He also launched a web portal for plasma donation on the occasion.
