i.The awards were announced during a presentation ceremony of Virtual PATA Travel Mart 2020 in Beijing, which took place from September 23-27, 2020.
ii.The PATA Awards are supported and sponsored by Macao Government Tourist Office (MGTO).
Key Points:
i.The PATA Grand Title Winners are presented to outstanding entries in Three Categories: Marketing, Sustainability, and Human Capital Development.
ii.The Awards attracted a total of 121 entries from 62 travel and tourism organisations and individuals.
iii.It recognized a total of Three Grand Title Winners and 21 Gold Awards.
iv.The Winners were selected by a Jury of 16 personalities from various destinations.
‘Human by Nature’:
i.The ‘Human by Nature’ campaign helped Kerala achieve a record tourism growth rate of 17.2 percent in 2019.
ii.It was a marketing strategy to revive tourism in Kerala, which was hit by the 2018 floods and Nipah outbreak.
iii.The campaign showcased the culture and daily life of people and was conceptualised and scripted by Stark Communications.
Karnataka Tourism Bags PATA Gold Award 2020:
Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka won the PATA Gold Award 2020 for its Marketing Campaign – ‘Script your Adventure 2019’. It was one of the 21 Gold Award winners from across the globe.
