TCS partners with NSDC to provide its training partners access to the TCS iON Digital Glass Room

NSDC to Accelerate Skill Development with TCS iONOn June 10, 2020 Tata Consultancy Services(TCS) iON, unit of TCS, partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) to provide its training partners access to the TCS iON Digital Glass Room, a web-based digital education platform so as to enable online vocational skills training for millions of students across the country.

Gist about the partnership

  • The partnership will strengthen NSDC’s online content aggregation platform – eSkill India, thereby enabling e-learning among skill seekers and will contribute towards strengthening the Skill India mission.
  • NSDC has a network of more than 500 training partners across the country can now access the TCS iON Digital Glass Room, which will help in the transition to the virtual teaching and learning environment & continue with their skilling programs, during the lockdown and thereafter.

About TCS iON Digital Glass Room

i.The TCS iON Digital Glass Room helps trainers to deliver lectures, create and share content, share and evaluate assignments, conduct formative tests, and monitor learners’ progress.

ii.It enables online collaboration between students and trainers through debates, quizzes, polls and surveys among others

iii.Students and trainers can share posts, like, vote and chat with each other, ensuring ideal education.The offering is free for all training partners of NSDC.

iv.TCS iON through its Learning and Assessment platform, will help build a framework and integrating these resources, with an objective to strengthen skilling outcomes through digital technology

Benefits of the platform to workers

  • An NSDC certification enables skilled workers to bargain for up to 15% higher remuneration.
  • The platform helps connect skilled workers to demand across industrial clusters in the country to help avoid migration for jobs.

Background

i.NSDC and TCS signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) to develop NSDC’s skill development and capacity building initiatives such as National Occupation Standards (NOS), Qualification Packs and Curriculum.

ii.By this MoU TCS will bring the iON platform, the ‘Phygital’ (Physical Assets integrated with Digital platforms) delivery model and its large partner ecosystem to the engagement.
