Objective – To ensure Uninterrupted potable water (drinking water) supply in rural areas of Punjab.
- The project is expected to benefit around 141 households of Jagrawan & Muradpur and 102 households of Talwara village.
- The Solar-based projects have been commissioned at a cost of INR 67.71 Lakhs.
- The Solar based project will significantly reduce the electricity bill of the farmers, and the amount will be utilized for development works of the villages.
Har Ghar Paani, Har Ghar Safai
- It was launched by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on February 1, 2021 to provide 100% potable water supply to all rural households of the state by March, 2022.
Central Government’s KUSUM Program
Indian Government is promoting the use of Solar Energy to provide water security in rural areas of India through the Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (KUSUM) program.
- It aims to add solar and other renewable capacity of 25, 750 MW by 2022 with a Financial support of INR 34, 422 Crores.
- It is one of the initiatives to double the farmer’s income by 2022.

i.July 24, 2020, The Punjab Cabinet chaired by CM Amarinder Singh approved a USD 285.71 million (over Rs 2,130 crore) project for canal-based water supply for Amritsar and Ludhiana cities through video conferencing. The funding of these projects will be offered by the World Bank (70%) and Punjab government (30%).
