Pakistan successfully test fires Surface-To-Surface ‘Babur’ Cruise Missile

On February 11, 2021, Pakistan successfully test-fired a short range surface-to-surface ballistic missile namely “Babur” from a state-of-the-art Multi Tube Missile Launch Vehicle. The missile is capable of hitting land and sea targets with a range of 450 Kilometer & has a high precision up to 490 kilometers (about 280 miles) away.

Earlier tests:

–On February 3, 2021, the Pakistan Army successfully test-fired a nuclear-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile “Ghaznavi” which can strike targets up to 290 kilometres. It was launched on the culmination of Annual Field Training Exercise of Army Strategic Forces Command.

–On January 20, 2021 the country test-fired nuclear-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile “Shaheen-III” which can strike targets upto 2750 km.

— On January 7, 2021 Pakistan successfully test fired the Indigenous ‘Fatah-1’ Guided Multi Launch Rocket System (MLRS).

Pakistan’s Missiles:

Pakistan Army is equipped with Short Range Ballistic Missiles (SRBM), Medium Range Ballistic Missiles (MRBM), Battlefield Ballistic Missiles (BBM), Surface to Surface Cruise Missiles (SSCM) & Rocket Artillery.

i.On December 16, 2020, India successfully fired two Nuclear Capable Prithvi-2 Ballistic Missiles from Balasore, Odisha. Prithvi-2 is a Surface-to-Surface Short-Range Ballistic missile (SRBM).

ii.On November 13, 2020, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test fired Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) System at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, Odisha. It is developed by DRDO in association with BEL and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL).
