INMAS Handed Over MotorBike Ambulance ‘Rakshita’ to CRPF

DRDO hands over Motor Bike AmbulanceOn January 18, 2021, a bike-based casualty transport emergency vehicle (bike ambulance) namely ‘Rakshita’ was handed over by Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during a ceremony held at CRPF Headquarter in New Delhi. Rakshita is built on a Royal Enfield Classic 350CC.

  • It was handed over by Distinguished Scientist (DS) & Director General (DG) – Life Sciences (LS), DRDO, Dr Ajay Kumar Singh to DG CRPF, Dr Anand Prakash Maheshwari.
  • The handover followed by flagging off the contingent of 21 bikes on the occasion.
  • INMAS is a Delhi based Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) laboratory.

Benefits of ‘Rakshita’:

The Indian security forces and emergency healthcare providers used to face problems in providing life-saving aid for evacuation of injured patients from low intensity conflict areas. Now, with the help of Rakshita they can get easy access in the congested streets and remote locations, where driving an ambulance is a hurdle.

Features of Rakshita:

–It has an integrated emergency medical support system with air splint, medical and oxygen kit.

–It is fitted with a customized reclining Casualty Evacuation Seat (CES), which can be fitted in and taken out as per requirement.

–Other major features are the head immobilizer, safety harness jacket, hand and foot straps for safety, adjustable footrest, physiological parameter measuring equipment with wireless monitoring capability and auto warning system for driver.

–The patient can be monitored on the dashboard mounted LCD (liquid-crystal display).
