India’s 1st LGBT+ Workplace Equality Index,’India Workplace Equality Index Top Employers 2020 Report’ launched by KSF, Pride Circle & Stonewall

India’s 1st LGBT+ workplace equality indexOn December 10, 2020, India’s 1st LGBT + (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans +) Workplace Equality Index, “India Workplace Equality Index Top Employers 2020 Report” based on the India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) Index was launched virtually by KSF (Keshav Suri Foundation), Pride Circle, Stonewall & FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry).

i.IWEI Index is a tool for measuring the progress made in Indian workplaces for the inclusion of LGBT + community.

ii.The report highlighted Top Employers from Indian Industry who have set an example for inclusion of LGBT + in the workplace.

Note:

In September 2018, Supreme Court of India abolished Section 377, which decriminalized homosexuality in India.

India Workplace Equality Index Top Employers 2020 Report:

i.The Index is based on 9 Criterias – Policies & Benefits, Employee Lifecycle, Employee Network Group, Allies and Role Models, Senior Leadership, Monitoring, Procurement, Community Engagement and Additional work.

ii.Based on the IWEI Index, Employers are given a score and are celebrated as either Gold, Silver or Bronze IWEI Top Employers.

IWEI Top Employers:

A total of 65 organisations registered to participate in the IWEI. In the list of 52 companies – 67% International companies, 17% Indian companies and rest chose to be anonymous.

i.21 Organisations achieved Gold Award, 18 Organisations achieved Silver Award & 13 Organisations achieved Bronze Award.

ii.2 Indian Companies – Godrej Group & Hindustan Unilever (Indian Subsidiary of British Company) achieved Gold Award.

iii.4 Indian firms – DDB Mudra Group (from Advertising Industry), Tata Steel, Wipro, Hinduja Global Solutions achieved the Silver Award.

iv.1 Indian Firm – VIP Industries bagged the Bronze Award.
