Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal-India’s 1st Centralized AC Terminal set to become operational in Bengaluru 

‘Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal’ – India’s 1st Centralized Air-Conditioned Railway Terminal at Baiyappanahalli in Bengaluru, Karnataka is set to become operational soon.

  • It is being developed by the Indian Railways at a cost INR 314 Crore and has been named after one of India’s 1st Civil Engineers, Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya.
  • The terminal will decongest the KSR Bengaluru & Yesvantpur stations.
  • It was sanctioned in 2015-16 and is the 3rd Coach Terminal in Byappanahalli.
  • It has been built in an area of 4, 200 Sq Kms and is capable of serving more than 50, 000 passengers on a daily basis with 50 trains running on an average per day.
  • It also has features like a reserved VIP lounge, food court, escalators, subways, among others.
