17-year-old girl Khushi Chindaliya appointed UNEP’s Green Ambassador in India

17-year-old-Surat-girl-UNEP’s-green-ambassador-in-IndiaOn September 21, 2020 Khushi Chindaliya, a 17-year-old girl from Surat, Gujarat has been appointed as Regional Ambassador (RA) for India for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Tunza Eco-Generation (TEG), which is scheduled to take place in September, 2020. 

Khushi’s interest in nature and conservation of environment and her conservation efforts has helped Chindaliya to bag the role of Regional Ambassador of UNEP-TEG.  She started looking for ways to conserve nature, after she saw the greenery around her hometown change into a concrete jungle.

Responsibilities:

i.Her appointment will give her the platform to spread awareness about climate change and environmental protection. 

ii.As Regional Ambassador, she will work on various awareness projects with TEG till February 2021. 

iii.She will also discuss India’s contribution in environmental protection and the role of education to help this process.

Essay selected by UNESCO:

i.Khushi’s essay was among the several essays chosen by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) to be published in the book ‘Year 1 AC (After Coronavirus): Essays by 100 Young Indians’. 

ii.She was inducted as Member and International Ambassador of the National Society of High School Scholars (run by the descendants of Sir Alfred Nobel in 2019).
