11 PIOs in Forbes’s list of best venture capitalists

11 Person of Indian Origin (PIOs) have featured in Forbes Magazine’s ‘Midas 2017’ which ranks world’s 100 best venture capitalists in the technology space. ‘Midas 2017’ has been compiled by evaluating venture capitalists’ portfolio during past five years.

11 PIOs in Forbes’s list of best venture capitalists are as follows:

Highlights of Forbes ‘Midas 2017’:

The list has been topped by Jim Goetz, Partner in Sequoia Capital whose $60 million investment in Whatsapp fetched him $3 billion when Facebook acquired Whatsapp for $22 billion in year 2014.

  • Founders Fund’s Brian Singerman, who moved from No.36 in 2016 to No.5 in 2017, is the biggest mover in the Midas list 2017. His $300 million investment into the cancer stem cell-targeting drug maker Stemcentrx fetched him $1.4 billion when Abb Vie 11 PIOs in Forbes's list of best venture capitalistsagreed to purchase the company in April 2016 for $10.2 billion.
  • Naresh Agrawal who ranked highest among Indian venture capitalists, has featured in Midas List for the 7th consecutive time. His two software companies, Coupa and Nutanix, went public in 2016. Agrawal’s another company; App Dynamics was acquired by Cisco for USD 3.7 billion in January 2017.
  • Forbes highlighted that Twitter accounts for 12 Midas investors and Facebook accounts for another 10 Midas Investors. Social app ‘Snap’, that went public in February 2017, has eight investors in the 2017 Midas List.
