World Veterinary Day 2021 – April 24

World-Veterinary-Day-2021The World Veterinary Day is annually observed across the globe on the last Saturday of April to promote animal health and welfare and to provide global leadership to veterinary professionals across the globe.

The World Veterinary Day 2021 was observed on 24th April 2021.

  • The World Veterinary Day 2020 was observed on 25th April 2020.
  • The World Veterinary Day 2022 will be observed on 30th April 2022.

The theme of World Veterinary Day 2021 is “The Veterinarian Response to the Covid-19 Crisis”.

  • The World Veterinary Day 2021 is observed by the WVA in collaboration with other organisations like World Organisation for Animal Health(formerly the Office International des Epizooties(OIE)),  World Health Organization(WHO), and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Background:

i.The World Veterinary Day was initiated by the World Veterinary Association(WVA) in 2000 to highlight the contribution of veterinarians towards the wellbeing of animals and people around the world on the last saturday of April.

ii.The First World Veterinary Day was observed on 29th April 2000.
