Star Screen Awards 2017 – Rajkummar Rao, Vidya Balan named best actor and actress

23rd edition of the annual Star Screen Awards honouring excellence in Indian Film industry was held at Mumbai on December 3, 2017.

About Star Screen Awards:

  • Star Screen Awards were originally called the Screen Awards.
  • Screen Awards, initiated by The Express Group were first awarded in 1995.
  • Screen Awards are considered India’s first awards that are given by the film fraternity to the film fraternity through a jury.
  • Current edition of Star Screen Awards also have awards in ‘popular’ category.

Highlights of Star Screen Awards 2017:

The award ceremony was attended by top Bollywood stars, including Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit.

  • Vidya Balan won the ‘Best Actress (Popular)’ Award for film ‘Tumhari Sulu’. ‘Best Actress (Critics)’ Award went to Konkana Sen Sharma for film ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’.
  • Best Actor (Critics) Award, went to Rajkumar Rao for film ‘Newton’. Rajkumar Rao also won Best Actor in a Supporting Role Award for film ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’.
  • Irrfan Khan won the Best Actor (Popular) Award for film ‘Hindi Medium’.
  • Amir Khan-starrer film ‘Dangal’ bagged multiple awards in different categories.
